CLIENT: ADIDAS
BRIEF: ENCOURAGE YOUNG WOMEN TO STAY IN SPORTS AT A TIME WHEN PARTICIPATION UT RAPIDLY DROPPING.
PROBLEM: WOMEN’S RUGBY TEAMS RECEIVE LITTLE FUNDING, RESOURCES, OR INSTITUTIONAL BACKING, MAKING IT HARDER FOR YOUNG WOMEN TO STAY INVOLVED.
INSIGHT: WOMEN DON’T DROP SPORTS FROM LACK OF PASSION, THEY DROP THEM BECAUSE THE WORLD DOESN’T INVEST IN THEM.
IDEA: ADIDAS STEPS IN TO SUPPORT BARNARD RUGBY AND CREATE A MONTHLY FIELD DAY THAT INVITES YOUNG WOMEN TO LEARN, PLAY, AND FEEL SUPPORTED.
THIS WAS MY FIRST EVER ADVERTISING BRIEF I WORKED ON.
I HAD JUST MOVED TO NYC. I WAS LIVING IN A FRIEND’S DORM AT BARNARD. I FOLLOWED AROUND A WOMEN’S RUGBY TEAM TO THEIR GAMES AND INTERVIEWED THEM. I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT RUGBY AND WOMEN’S SPORTS IN GENERAL. I SHOT THIS VIDEO OF ONE OF THE PLAYERS. I GOT TO PITCH TO BILLIE JEAN KING’S WIFE. THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS AWESOME.
